Starting from the fundamental principle confirmed by the Constitution of Montenegro that the citizen is the bearer of sovereignty, we advocate a more active participation of citizens in the process of making public decisions. Only a free individual can, at the same time, be a responsible citizen. The citizen must not be a victim of the deviation of representative democracy into the mere provision of terms to alienated politicians. Instead of simple periodic voting in elections, the Europe Now Movement encourages continuous participation of citizens in public life. Their priorities and interests deserve to be communicated not only in elections, and transparent, inclusive and reasoned debate must be conducted on all significant social and political issues. Therefore, we will support the creation of an environment in which citizens will communicate their views and ideas through digital platforms, round tables, public debates and other adequate instruments. By building trust between citizens and decision-makers, the Europe Now Movement affirms a society that accepts diversity of opinion and encourages a culture of open dialogue.
